# Palino > Palino helps kids learn to read in a playful way – with an app that listens and guides them step by step through real children's books. Palino pairs printed children's books with a smartphone app. While the child reads aloud, the app listens, helps the moment they get stuck and guides them through the story with mini-games and audio. Badges and a parent dashboard show reading time, vocabulary and progress. Palino is still in development and not available yet. Parents can join the waitlist on the homepage. Palino is made in Linz, Austria. The website is in German, with English versions of the pages under https://palino.app/en. Not every blog post is translated.
